Barcelona secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad on Tuesday evening at the “Luis Compañes Olympic” stadium, during the seventh round of the Spanish La Liga.

Alvaro Odriozola opened the scoring for Real Sociedad in the 31st minute, before Jules Koundé equalized with a header in the 43rd minute.

In the second half, Robert Lewandowski scored the winning goal assisted by substitute Lamine Yamal in the 59th minute.

Barcelona’s lineup was: Goalkeeper: Szczesny; Defense: Koundé, Araujo, Christensen, Gerard Martin; Midfield: De Jong, Drou, Pedri; Attack: Roni, Lewandowski, Rashford.

The squad missed several key players including Gavi, Fermin Lopez, Juan Garcia, Ter Stegen, Raphinha, and Balde, with Lamine Yamal making a return.

With this result, Barcelona tops the La Liga table with 19 points from 7 matches, ahead of their traditional rival Real Madrid who have 18 points. The Catalan club aims to strengthen their position ahead of their Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain next week.

On the other hand, Real Sociedad is in 17th place with 5 points, having won one match, drawn two, and lost four, scoring 7 goals and conceding 11.
