German football club Bayer Leverkusen has signed the rising Moroccan star Elyas Ben Slimane from French club Monaco.
Leverkusen announced on their X platform account that the 20-year-old Moroccan international has signed a contract with the team until 2030.
Media reports stated that Leverkusen paid more than £30 million (35 million USD) to secure the Moroccan star’s services.
Ben Slimane, who plays as a left winger, had represented France’s under-17, under-18, and under-19 teams before deciding to play for the Moroccan national team in 2024.
Leverkusen, the 2024 German league champions and last season’s runners-up, have earned only one point from their first two Bundesliga matches this season under Dutch coach Erik ten Hag, who was dismissed from his position on Monday morning.
