Real Madrid’s dreams of a “Golden League” evaporated after their loss to Atletico, although Barcelona still has a chance to finish the season unbeaten, as they have not lost by the end of the seventh week. Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund share the same opportunity in the German league. These are all giant clubs that could achieve this goal, although history and experience have shown it to be nearly impossible. Since Arsenal’s golden title in 2003, only Bayer Leverkusen in Germany has managed to win the league unbeaten.

These three giants—Barcelona, Bayern, and Dortmund—have avoided defeat so far, which might be normal and not considered an achievement given the long season ahead. However, the real achievement is what the Spanish team Elche and the English team Crystal Palace are experiencing.

Elche, currently fourth in the Spanish La Liga standings after seven rounds, shares with Barcelona the distinction of not having lost any match yet, despite facing tough opponents like Atletico Madrid and Sevilla and managing to avoid defeat against both, as well as Real Betis and Osasuna. They have also won three matches against Celta Vigo, Real Oviedo, and Levante, collecting 13 points and securing fourth place, one of their best achievements, reaching the seventh match unbeaten and in a position qualifying for the Champions League.

Another team making history is Crystal Palace from England, which is the only team qualified for the “Golden League” by avoiding defeat until the sixth round of the English Premier League. They maintained a clean record until the end of the sixth round after inflicting the first loss on Liverpool, the league leader and defending champion, jumping to third place in a commendable achievement.

Whether the German giants can replicate Leverkusen’s feat, or whether Barcelona can achieve a “Golden La Liga,” all possibilities remain open. The chances of Elche winning the title are somewhat slim, while Crystal Palace’s chances in the English league cannot be ruled out, although repeating Arsenal’s 2003 achievement remains difficult.
