Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia has seriously entered negotiations to sign Uruguay national team striker Darwin Nunez from English club Liverpool, according to reports indicating a verbal agreement with the Premier League champions. Nunez has played for Liverpool for three years since joining from Portuguese club Benfica in a deal worth 75 million euros (87 million dollars), but he has not met the high expectations, scoring 40 goals in 143 matches for the Reds in all competitions. Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano wrote on the platform X that Al Hilal is close to finalizing the deal after reaching a verbal agreement with Liverpool.
