The Israeli Public Prosecution on Monday charged four Israeli protesters with setting fires in garbage containers and causing arson near the residence of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Rehavia neighborhood of Jerusalem.

The prosecution stated that the accused, Mark Weigl (57 years old from Tel Aviv), Amos Doron (60 years old from Ramat Gan), Shmuel Reuveni (61 years old from Herzliya), and Eyal Geller (54 years old from Netiv HaAsara), had pre-planned this operation as part of an organized protest. They created a communication group via the Signal app, distributed tasks among themselves, and supplied themselves with flammable materials, according to Sky News Arabia.

According to the indictments, on September 3rd, the accused set fire to five recycling garbage containers at five different locations, causing damage to plants and property, burning a private vehicle, and evacuating a nearby residential building for fear of fire spread.

The prosecution also charged the accused with intentional arson, malicious property damage, obstruction of justice, and deliberate vehicle vandalism, noting that they tried to conceal their identities and erase evidence after the act.

Police reports revealed that one suspect disguised himself by wearing a hat and fake beard before igniting one of the containers with fast-flammable materials, nearly injuring himself.

After leaving the scene, he disposed of the disguise items in bushes, but police managed to track and arrest him after several hours.

The Public Prosecution requested the Jerusalem Central Court to extend the detention of the four suspects until the completion of legal proceedings against them.
