Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus of Al-Nassr club has taken an unusual step in preparation for the highly anticipated match against Al-Ittihad, scheduled for September 26 as part of the fourth round of the Roshn Saudi Pro League.
According to Al-Riyadiyah newspaper, Jesus preferred to stay in Jeddah after his team’s match against Jeddah Club in the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup on September 23, instead of returning to Riyadh, to avoid tiring his players due to frequent travel before the big Clasico against Al-Ittihad.
Al-Nassr will start their journey after the international break by facing Al-Kholood on September 14 at Al-Ol Park Stadium, then host Istiklol Dushanbe on September 17 in the AFC Champions League 2, before playing the Riyadh Derby on September 20 at the same stadium. Afterwards, they will travel to face Jeddah Club in the King’s Cup on September 23, then conclude the month with the Clasico against Al-Ittihad at Al-Inma Stadium on September 26.
Al-Nassr’s challenges in September vary between the league, the cup, and the Asian championship, prompting Jesus to take organizational decisions aimed at maintaining the team’s physical and technical readiness, especially as the matches are close in timing and require the highest levels of focus.
The decision to stay in Jeddah may grant Al-Nassr players greater rest and reduce travel fatigue, helping them prepare perfectly for the eagerly awaited Clasico against Al-Ittihad, a match that Roshn League fans are eagerly looking forward to.
