The term “the last call” refers to the critical period when a situation or person approaches an inevitable timing that cannot be easily remedied. It is commonly heard in airports as a call for absent or late passengers to board before the gate closes, after which boarding becomes impossible.
The term is used broadly in political, social, economic, and sports contexts. In politics and wars, it denotes difficult and complex situations requiring preventive and corrective measures before a general explosion and collapse due to wrong policies and administrative chaos.
Socially, it warns against overwhelming phenomena such as drugs, law manipulation, and behaviors threatening state and societal security.
Medically, it is used in times of peace and war. Recently, Gaza’s health sector issued “the last call” to save what can be saved of people caught between random Israeli air and rocket strikes and the harsh siege imposed on the Gaza Strip.
Gaza’s Health Ministry issued its “last call” to the international community for urgent intervention to save lives not only threatened by war but also by the spread of deadly diseases like the rare Guillain-Barré syndrome.
Amidst the terror, hunger, and death, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seeks cabinet approval to support his ambitious plan to fully occupy Gaza despite his army’s rejection of his crazy idea.
Some Hebrew newspapers revealed that Netanyahu told his team: “The decision is made; we aim to fully occupy the Gaza Strip,” and confirmed there will be operations even in “areas where hostages are held,” and if Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir does not agree, “he should resign,” as he opposes Gaza’s occupation.
This new Israeli approach confirms Tel Aviv’s persistent effort to sabotage negotiations with Palestinians in Doha, proving Israel did not come to negotiate acceptable solutions but to impose its conditions, a stance unacceptable after huge Palestinian sacrifices and Israeli disregard for Palestinian lives, present and future.
Currently, according to Gaza’s government, Israel controls 77% of Gaza’s area, planning to occupy the remaining quarter.
Beyond supporters and opponents of Netanyahu’s plan, several major questions arise:
– What is the fate of over 1.5 million Palestinians besieged in Gaza, and who will protect them, especially since half may be crushed by Netanyahu’s new plan?
– On what land will these besieged people end up after the war?
– Who will guarantee the safety of Israeli hostages inside Gaza, and does the expected killing during the upcoming attack fall on Netanyahu or on the resistance that preserved their lives under the hardest conditions?
– What is the international and Arab stance on this decisive Zionist step and its repercussions?
These fundamental questions and possibilities place the world at a very sharp crossroads, requiring diplomatic means and international forums, especially relations with major countries including the United States, to save what remains of Gaza, or else the world will witness the largest humanitarian massacre feeding Netanyahu’s arrogance and crushing innocents.
Thus, in light of most countries’ laxity in supporting Gaza, this call is the “last call” for humanity to save its reputation from the “shameful stance” that will haunt it forever.
The “last call” demands the righteous to work to support Gaza from their positions, and the least support is rejecting Israeli barbarism, even in heart, away from the “sick” stance of siding with Israel against Palestinian resistance.
This is our historic opportunity to support Gaza, the symbol of heroism, manhood, and adherence to rights, and the gateway to preserving past, present, and future.
It is the “last call” to the whole world: “Will countries move before the remaining residents of Gaza breathe their last?” as Gaza’s health sector said in its “last scream.”
