Tripoli, August 31, 2025 (WAL) – The Chairman of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, met today, Sunday, in Tripoli with a delegation of notables and elders from the Western Coast regions to discuss the recent security and military developments in the area.
According to the media office of the Chairman, the meeting was dedicated to discussing the security and military developments affecting the western region in general, and Tripoli city in particular.
The meeting also addressed the role of the Chairman, as the Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army, in containing the crisis by enhancing communication and coordination channels with the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, as part of intensive efforts to defuse confrontations and spare the capital from the ravages of conflict.
The notables and elders expressed their full support for the de-escalation process and initiatives to maintain the ceasefire, emphasizing the need to unify efforts to address current challenges and prioritize reason and wisdom to preserve national security and the safety of citizens, appreciating the Chairman’s efforts to achieve stability, according to the media office.
The delegation stressed the importance of all parties exercising restraint and respecting ceasefire commitments, noting that the UN Security Council had renewed its affirmation to hold accountable those responsible for any attacks targeting civilians or obstructing the peace process.
