The national youth team secured a valuable victory over their Kuwaiti counterparts on Wednesday evening, qualifying for the semifinals of the Gulf Arab Youth Cup hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The match between Yemen’s youth and Kuwait’s youth ended 2-0 at Damac Club Stadium in Khamis Mushait, as part of the final round of Group A in the inaugural Gulf Cup tournament.
Player Abdullah Al-Duqain scored the first goal for the national team in the second minute of first-half stoppage time, ending the half with Yemen leading 1-0.
Captain Adel Abbas added the second goal in the 68th minute, confirming the team’s 2-0 win.
In the same group, the Saudi team defeated Qatar 2-0 in a match played simultaneously, topping Group A.
The national team raised its points to six, placing second in Group A behind Saudi Arabia, which leads with seven points, officially qualifying for the semifinals of the first edition of the Gulf Arab Youth Cup under 20 years old.
