Egyptian fighter Hamdy Abdelwahab has risen in the world of mixed martial arts, capturing attention since his debut in the UFC arenas. He currently holds an impressive record of six wins and one loss, making him one of the most prominent rising stars in the heavyweight division.

Abdelwahab is preparing for a fiery showdown against American Chris Barnett at UFC 321: Aspinall vs. Jan, hosted at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on October 25.

The fighter described his upcoming bout as a pivotal moment in his career, saying, “I am honored to represent the Arabs in this major event, especially since it is held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of combat sports in the world. I look forward to delivering a performance that will please the Arab audience.”

Abdelwahab’s journey to the top was not easy. He began in Greco-Roman wrestling before rediscovering himself in the United States. He said, “After moving to the US, I stepped away from sports for a while and focused on a different career path, but I quickly realized that competition runs in my blood. I faced difficulty returning to wrestling because it requires American citizenship, but the path was paved towards the UFC.”

He added, “I started training in boxing for two years, then had my first MMA fight, which I won by knockout in just nine seconds of the first round. From there, the challenge journey began until I reached professional championships. I am confident I can enter the top five fighters in the world and maybe win the title.”

Regarding his preparations for the upcoming fight, Abdelwahab said, “I have been training since last August here in Dubai with the Triple Three Club team, and Cyril Gane and his team joined us six weeks ago. I am fully prepared, expect to finish the fight in the first round, and look forward to winning and participating in the UFC fight night in Qatar next November.”
