Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, stated that the UAE government has given pivotal importance to the land transport sector, especially railways, within the 50-year projects. Therefore, the “National Rail Program” was launched in 2021 with investments amounting to AED 50 billion, forming the largest system of its kind in the country.
On the occasion of the launch of the “Global Rail 2025” exhibition and conference in Abu Dhabi today, he added that this investment represents an integrated vision to achieve economic and developmental benefits exceeding AED 200 billion, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance traffic safety by the UAE Centennial 2071.
He pointed out that railways are a fundamental pillar in achieving the targets of the 2050 Climate Neutrality Strategic Initiative, providing a more sustainable and efficient alternative to land transport that enhances quality of life and raises community satisfaction. He noted that the UAE continues to invest in the future of smart transport by establishing advanced infrastructure for autonomous vehicles and developing a comprehensive legislative and regulatory framework, reinforcing the country’s position among the leading nations creating tomorrow’s solutions.
He said the Global Rail 2025 exhibition and conference for railways, transport, and infrastructure is a leading international platform for cooperation, experience exchange, and future foresight. It directly reflects the directives of the wise leadership and always emphasizes the importance of promoting sustainable development and adopting innovative solutions that balance economic growth and environmental protection, consolidating the UAE’s pioneering position in launching qualitative projects and leadership in future transport and infrastructure fields.
He added that this global event is graciously sponsored by the wise leadership, reflecting the strategic status of the transport sector in the country’s priorities and the leadership’s keenness to support national efforts aimed at building an integrated sustainable transport system and enhancing the UAE’s position as a global platform for innovation and development in railways and infrastructure.
Suhail Al Mazrouei confirmed that the UAE hosting of “Global Rail 2025” embodies the leadership’s keenness for the country to be a key partner in shaping the future of sustainable transport globally, reinforcing its position as a global center for cooperation and innovation, fulfilling present aspirations and creating a more prosperous future for coming generations.
The Roads and Transport Authority of Sharjah participates in the activities of the Global Rail exhibition and conference.
For his part, Engineer Youssef Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of the Authority, confirmed that the Authority’s participation in the Global Rail exhibition and conference in Abu Dhabi represents an important opportunity to highlight Sharjah’s efforts in developing the transport and infrastructure sector and to learn about the latest global practices supporting qualitative shifts in this vital sector. He explained that the exhibition is an ideal platform to showcase the Authority’s distinctive participation through displaying its projects and allows direct communication with leading experts and decision-makers at regional and international levels.
He clarified that through participation, the Authority looks forward to strengthening partnerships with various institutions and exchanging best practices to contribute to improving performance efficiency and providing quality services to the public.
Innovative Projects
During the exhibition, the Authority will showcase innovative projects reflecting its approach to integrating the latest smart solutions in transport services, including advanced technologies such as AI-powered smart surveillance cameras installed on buses, passenger information screens, and destination display boards operating with advanced communication technologies, as well as the intercity ticketing system implemented in cooperation with Ridango.
The Authority also highlights the traffic signal control room, a key hub for managing traffic flow, and the traffic priority system that enhances traffic smoothness and reduces travel time.
The Authority’s participation extends over three days, with concerned departments presenting these projects through interactive platforms, allowing visitors and interested parties to review details and their direct impact on improving public transport services and enhancing user experience. The Authority will also participate in discussion sessions and specialized workshops to present its future vision for developing sustainable transport in the emirate.
Meanwhile, the Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Center announced its strategic sponsorship of the exhibition and conference.
As a main partner for this year’s edition, the Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Center will play a pivotal role by highlighting Abu Dhabi’s vision for an interconnected infrastructure that improves quality of life and supports economic diversification. The center will present a selection of its key strategic projects within its pavilion at the exhibition, with the participation of a group of experts and specialists, reflecting its role in shaping the future and embodying its status as a key government entity leading sustainable infrastructure development in the emirate.
