The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced on Wednesday that dynamic pricing will be applied during the first phase of ticket sales for the 2026 World Cup, with prices varying according to demand, starting at $60 per ticket.
Fans will have their first chance to obtain tickets for the World Cup in North America during the pre-sale draw, which will begin on September 10 at 15:00 Central European Time and continue until September 19.
FIFA stated that group stage match tickets will start at $60 and will be available to eligible Visa cardholders, while ticket prices for later stages, including the final, will reach up to $6,730.
Falk Eller, FIFA’s Head of Ticketing and Hospitality, told reporters, “We have nearly one million tickets available for the first pre-sale phase for Visa cardholders.”
He added that prices will vary based on market demand, a strategy known as dynamic pricing.
Dynamic pricing is commonly used in airline ticket prices and hotel room rates during holiday seasons.
However, this has led to complaints from fans of the British band Oasis, who waited in long lines to get tickets for the band’s reunion concerts this year, only to find prices increased as part of the dynamic pricing scheme.
The pre-sale process will be followed by additional sales phases later in the year.
