The Norwegian Nobel Committee has revealed the names of the Nobel Peace Prize winners over the past ten years.
Earlier, the Norwegian Nobel Committee announced the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize winner on Friday, awarding it to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado. The committee stated that Machado won “due to her persistent work in promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and her struggle to achieve a fair and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.”
Here are the names of the Nobel Peace Prize winners in the last ten years:
- 2025: Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado
- 2024: Nihon Hidankyo, the group of survivors from the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings
- 2023: Iranian imprisoned activist and journalist Narges Mohammadi, awarded for “her struggle against the oppression of women in Iran and her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all.”
- 2022: Belarusian human rights activist Ales Bialiatski and the non-governmental organizations Memorial (Russia) and Center for Civil Liberties (Ukraine).
- 2021: Journalists Maria Ressa (Philippines) and Dmitry Muratov (Russia) for “their courageous defense of press freedom.”
- 2020: United Nations World Food Programme for “its efforts to combat hunger worldwide.”
- 2019: Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed “for his efforts to establish peace,” specifically “for his decisive initiative aimed at resolving the border conflict with Eritrea.”
- 2018: Congolese doctor Denis Mukwege and Yazidi activist Nadia Murad, honored for their efforts to combat sexual violence used in conflicts worldwide.
- 2017: International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) for its contribution to adopting a historic treaty banning nuclear weapons.
- 2016: Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos for his commitment to ending the armed conflict with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).
