Baghdad, October 12 /BNA/ – Iraqi Oil Minister Hayyan Abdul Ghani announced on Saturday the commencement of work on the third marine pipeline project at the large Al-Faw port, aiming to increase export capacity by more than two million barrels per day and to reactivate the Al-Umayyah oil port.

According to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the minister confirmed that the project includes connecting the pipeline to the ports of Basra and Al-Umayyah and installing a floating platform with a design capacity of up to 2.4 million barrels per day. The project was assigned to a coalition of the Turkish company “Esta” and the Italian company “Maico Berry,” with expectations to complete the first phase in less than two years.
