The Algerian national team has joined the list of Arab teams qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Algeria achieved a decisive 3-0 victory over Somalia in the match held in the Algerian city of Oran, as part of the penultimate round of the African qualifiers for the World Cup.

Algeria returns to the World Cup to mark its fifth participation, after missing the 2018 and 2022 editions held in Russia and Qatar respectively. The last appearance of the “Greens” was in the 2014 World Cup held in Brazil.

Algeria raised its points tally to 22, leading Group 7 standings by 4 points ahead of Uganda, the runner-up.

The list of Arab teams qualified for the 2026 World Cup so far includes Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia from Africa, in addition to Jordan from Asia.

The 2018 edition held in Russia and the 2022 edition held in Qatar saw the largest participation of Arab teams, with Russia hosting Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, and Saudi Arabia, while Qatar hosted Tunisia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.

It is worth noting that the 2026 World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19 next year, while the final draw ceremony will take place on December 5 in Washington.
