The Ministry of Health and Prevention, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, participated in implementing a series of initiatives as part of the “Accident-Free Summer” campaign. The campaign aims to raise awareness of preventive measures designed to protect the health and safety of community members, reduce traffic accidents, and avoid illnesses caused by high temperatures during the summer season, contributing to the enhancement of public health in line with the ministry’s strategy to build a safe preventive community with sustainable health.
The ministry’s participation aims to establish healthy lifestyle patterns, improve awareness of prevention, and support healthy choices during travel, work, and commuting. These awareness efforts align with the National Quality of Life Strategy 2031 through launching effective initiatives and expanding partnerships with federal and local entities.
The ministry’s participation includes implementing a package of field activities through representative offices in the northern Emirates, addressing travel safety by land, driver and passenger health, avoiding leaving children inside vehicles, providing first aid kits, drinking water regularly, avoiding heavy meals before trips, using sunglasses, switching drivers when fatigued or feverish, and not leaving medications inside vehicles.
Dr. Hussein Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Sector at the ministry, confirmed that the ministry’s efforts extend a collaborative approach with the Ministry of Interior to enhance community safety on the roads.
He added, “These efforts enable us to provide a clear impact measurement methodology to empower decision-makers to improve policies and efficiently allocate resources, with a proactive perspective that offers prevention, readiness, and effective communication as key tools to establish quality of life in the UAE, preventing families from accidents and injuries during the summer season, reflecting our values that place humans first… and protecting lives is a shared responsibility.”
Brigadier Hussein Ahmed Al Harthi, Chairman of the Federal Traffic Council at the Ministry of Interior, confirmed that “the integration of efforts among various entities enhances our ability to create a safe and healthy environment for our present and future generations.”
