Ambassador Mohamed Mirghani Yousif, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan, praised the noble positions of the State of Qatar, leadership and people, appreciating its continuous support to Sudan and its constant keenness to provide humanitarian and medical aid and support just causes for Sudan and regional countries in regional and international forums. He said during a media briefing yesterday, “We express our thanks and appreciation to the brotherly and friendly countries, foremost among them Qatar, for standing by the Sudanese people and government to overcome the circumstances the country is going through.”
He added that in implementation of the roadmap announced by the Chairman of the Sovereign Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, in February 2025, aiming to stabilize the situation and prepare the climate for the return of displaced persons and refugees and activate civil institutions to perform their roles, a civilian Prime Minister, Dr. Kamel Idris, was appointed on May 19, 2025, and tasked with forming a government of civilian competencies, having completed selecting 90% of his ministers. He added that the Sudanese government continues to perform its duties in managing the country’s affairs, establishing security and stability, enabling citizens to return to their liberated areas, and restarting basic services such as health, education, water, electricity, and transportation in more than 75% of the country’s lands under the control of the armed forces.
He explained that since the outbreak of the war, the Sudanese government has sought to alleviate the war’s impact on citizens and actively contribute to facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected, opening six land border crossings with neighboring countries, one sea port, one river port, and five airports and airstrips to receive aid and ensure its safe and organized access. He said the Sudanese government condemned on July 27, 2025, the Rapid Support Forces militia’s declaration of an illegitimate authority threatening the country’s unity, calling on the international community to reject these claims that undermine regional security. He noted that regional and international bodies, including the African Peace and Security Council, the Arab League, and the United Nations, affirmed their rejection of any parallel authority and recognized only the Transitional Sovereign Council.
He added that despite the Sudanese government’s efforts to provide the necessary humanitarian support to the Sudanese people, the militia has persistently violated these decisions and continues to tighten the siege on cities such as Kadugli and El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, in clear violation of Security Council Resolution 2736/2024.
