The Moroccan national football team achieved a new milestone on Thursday evening by equaling the world record held by Spain, reaching 15 consecutive wins in the same number of matches, following their victory in a friendly match against Bahrain.

The “Atlas Lions” defeated Bahrain 1-0 in the match held at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, extending their winning streak to 15 consecutive victories across all official and friendly matches (Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, 2026 World Cup qualifiers, and friendlies).

This exceptional run allows Morocco to match the record held by Spain, which won 15 consecutive matches between 2008 and 2009, a period marked by La Roja’s triumphs in the European Championship and then the World Cup.

Under the leadership of Walid Regragui, the national team has shown impressive consistency in performance, characterized by a solid defense, strong attack, and excellent collective play system.

This record reflects the growing strength of Moroccan football, which has become a reference in both the Arab and African regions, especially as Morocco currently ranks 11th worldwide in the latest FIFA rankings.

Now, Ashraf Hakimi and his teammates will try to write a new chapter in their history by breaking the absolute world record in their next match against Congo.

Morocco has achieved 14 consecutive wins since June 7, 2024, when they defeated Zambia 2-1 in Rabat during the World Cup qualifiers. A few days later, the Atlas Lions crushed Congo 6-0, then beat Gabon 4-1, Lesotho 1-0, and twice the Central African Republic in Oujda (5-0 and 4-0).

Then Walid Regragui’s squad won away against Gabon (5-1) and dominated Lesotho (7-0). Last March, they won against Niger (2-1) and Tanzania (2-0) at the Honorary Stadium in Oujda, as part of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Last June, the Moroccan team won two friendly matches against Tunisia (2-0) and Benin (1-0) in Fez, before defeating Niger (5-0) and Zambia (2-0) last September.
