President Michel Aoun praised in a statement the efforts of his American counterpart “to end the suffering of civilians and innocents in the Gaza Strip, to stop the bloodshed, and to work together for a stable and prosperous Middle East, based on principles of humanitarian justice and human dignity.”
He expressed hope that “the plan will receive approval from the concerned parties as soon as possible,” noting “the realistic approach it adopted in addressing contentious and problematic issues.”
The American president revealed the main points of his plan to end the war, which included disarming Hamas, releasing Israeli prisoners within 72 hours of Israel’s approval, and delivering aid to the Gaza Strip immediately upon acceptance.
According to the plan’s provisions, the residents of the Gaza Strip “will not be forced” to leave, and an international force will be deployed in the Strip alongside a gradual withdrawal of the Israeli army.
Trump’s plan includes a package of political, security, and humanitarian measures aimed at “ending the fighting, establishing a lasting truce, and creating conditions for the reconstruction of the Strip.”
A joint statement by the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar welcomed Trump’s announcement “of his proposal which includes ending the war, rebuilding Gaza, preventing the displacement of the Palestinian people, and advancing comprehensive peace, as well as his declaration that he will not allow the annexation of the West Bank,” emphasizing “the importance of partnership with the United States in consolidating peace in the region.”
The Palestinian Authority, which welcomed Trump’s “sincere and earnest” efforts to end the war, said it wants “a modern, democratic, non-armed Palestinian state committed to pluralism and peaceful transfer of power.”
