A writer reveals a surprise about the Epstein case: a photo of Trump embracing topless girls.. and the White House responds.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was expected to testify before the committee last week on October 9 but did not attend. Former President Bill Clinton was scheduled to be questioned about his ties to Epstein on Tuesday.
However, a spokesperson for the Oversight Committee told the New York Post on Monday that the committee “is in talks with the Clinton family’s lawyers to accommodate their schedules.” The spokesperson said about Bill Clinton’s anticipated testimony: “There will be no testimony tomorrow (Tuesday).”
The Clintons were subpoenaed in early August by Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (Republican from Kentucky) as part of the committee’s review of the federal investigation into Epstein and his convicted partner Ghislaine Maxwell.
Comer commented on the subpoena during an August interview with Newsmax, saying: “Everyone in America wants to know what happened on Epstein’s island, and we’ve all heard reports that Bill Clinton was a frequent visitor there, so he is a prime suspect and his questioning is required by the House Oversight Committee.”
The Kentucky Republican, who has led the Oversight Committee since January 2023, described Clinton’s subpoena as “the toughest subpoena I’ve ever issued.”
Comer added: “But what makes this subpoena different is that Democrats voted with Republicans [to issue it].”
Epstein, the businessman who died in his Manhattan jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on charges of child sex trafficking, visited the White House at least 17 times, starting shortly after Bill Clinton’s inauguration as president in 1993.
The late financier also donated $10,000 in 1993 to the White House Historical Association, according to former first lady records.
Bill Clinton was among many friends of the child molester, including President Donald Trump, who allegedly wrote dedications in Epstein’s notorious “Christmas Book” for his 50th birthday in 2003.
In the note attributed to Clinton and addressed to Epstein, released by the Oversight Committee last month, the former president wrote: “It’s reassuring, isn’t it, to live long, through all the years of learning, knowledge, adventures and [unclear word], and still have your childlike curiosity.”
Maxwell, who is said to have collected the dedications in the book dedicated to Epstein, told Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche earlier this year that Bill Clinton was her friend, not Epstein’s friend.
Maxwell explained in a prison interview with a Department of Justice official: “President Clinton was my friend, not Epstein’s friend,” adding: “President Clinton admired me, and we got along very well.. but I did not see that affection with Mr. Epstein.”
She also claimed in her interview with Blanche that the former president (Clinton) “never went” to Epstein’s infamous island.
Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for conspiring with Epstein in the sexual abuse of minors.
Meanwhile, the former president admitted in his 2024 book “Citizen: My Life After the White House” that he flew on Epstein’s private plane, nicknamed the “Lolita Express,” related to his work with his nonprofit organization “Clinton Global Initiative,” but denied visiting Epstein’s island.
Clinton wrote about Epstein: “I wish I’d never met him,” adding that flying on his plane “wasn’t worth the years of questioning that followed.”
The former president, who has not been charged with any wrongdoing in the Epstein case, claimed he had no knowledge that Epstein and Maxwell were trafficking minors sexually.
Epstein was an American financier involved in a child sex trafficking network, arrested in 2019 on charges of sex trafficking and exploitation of minors. He died in his Manhattan jail cell in August of the same year, with authorities declaring it a suicide, but his death sparked controversy and various theories due to his extensive connections with powerful figures and fears of potential cover-ups. His case remains under global scrutiny amid reports that prominent figures were involved in sexual crimes on his island.
