In a historic first, the writing of the “Egyptian Theatre Day” speech this year was entrusted to artificial intelligence, trained to emulate the spirit and style of the late writer Tawfiq al-Hakim. The speech will be delivered by the actress Aida Fahmy.

The Egyptian Theatre Day celebration will take place at 4:30 PM next Friday in the conference hall of the Supreme Council of Culture at the Cairo Opera House grounds, under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Minister of Culture, supervised by director Khaled Galal, Head of the Theatre Sector, and organized by the National Center for Theatre, Music and Folk Arts headed by director Adel Hassan.

This year’s celebration is held under the slogan “The Word… The Voice of Theatre,” in a special tribute to the creators and makers of the word including writers, critics, and translators.

The event is organized in implementation of the Minister of Culture’s directives to restore the shine to the annual Egyptian Theatre Day celebration, which was designated to be held on September 5th every year by ministerial decree several years ago.
