Mohamed Al Matyoui, star of the UAE national cycling team, confirmed that the achievement made by the national team at the Asian Track Cycling Championship held in Thailand represents a new milestone in the successful journey of Emirati cycling sports. The team won six medals (three gold and three silver), with Al Matyoui personally winning three medals, including two golds and one silver.

Al Matyoui told “Emarat Al Youm”:

“I am very happy with what was achieved at the Asian Championship. This success did not come out of nowhere; it is the result of the great attention from the Cycling Federation Board, along with continuous support from the technical and administrative staff. Each year, the number of achievements increases, which is a practical proof of the development the sport has reached in the UAE.”

He added: “My personal ambition does not stop at the continental achievement but extends to global competition. I aim to win a medal at the upcoming Track Cycling World Championship in Chile, as well as to strongly participate in the Road World Championship scheduled in Rwanda at the end of this September.”

He continued: “My biggest goal is to reach the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, where the qualification points collection phase will start at the end of 2026. I am confident that we have the capability to get there thanks to sound planning and the support we receive.”

Al Matyoui concluded his statement by saying: “I consider what was achieved at the Asian Championship as a new starting point towards a more ambitious phase, and I am confident that the future will bring more achievements for Emirati sports and the cycling team in particular.”
