Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Fadwa Barghouti, during her meeting with her Norwegian counterpart Espen Barth Eide, emphasized the importance of linking US President Donald Trump’s peace plan for the Gaza Strip to the New York Declaration and international law frameworks, considering it a pivotal element to ensure a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

According to the Palestinian News Agency “WAFA,” the minister stressed the necessity of focusing international efforts on empowering the Palestinian National Authority as the legitimate party in the “day after” arrangements in the Gaza Strip.

In a related context, the minister met with members of the Palestinian community in the Kingdom of Norway, where she highlighted the importance of Palestinian unity amid current circumstances and the need to continue conveying the Palestinian narrative to various societies, transmitting the truth as it is. She conveyed greetings from President Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian leadership to the community members and updated them on the latest field and political developments in Palestine.

The Palestinian minister also met with several members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the Kingdom of Norway, affirming the importance of continued support from friendly countries to ensure the implementation and sustainability of the Trump plan, linking it to international law, and stressing the continuation of gathering recognitions of the State of Palestine until it is realized as an independent sovereign state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
