The Israeli army announced on Thursday that it detected a missile launch from Yemen towards Israel and that air defense systems are working to intercept it.
Later, the Israeli army reported that the missile launched from Yemen fell in an open area outside Israeli territory. No sirens were sounded according to established protocols.
This is the third missile launched from Yemen in less than 24 hours.
Simultaneously with the announcement of the missile detection launched by the Houthis, FlightRadar data showed disruptions in air traffic at Ben Gurion Airport.
A previous statement from the Israeli army said: “Preliminary report regarding the Israeli Defense Forces detecting a missile launch from Yemen towards Israeli territory, and air defense systems are working to intercept this threat.”
The statement added, “The public is requested to follow the defense guidelines issued by the Home Front Command.”
Yesterday, the Yemeni Houthi group announced that its forces carried out air attacks on Israel with two hypersonic ballistic missiles.
Our correspondent reported that the Houthis announced a qualitative and dual military operation with two ballistic missiles, one of the “Palestine-2” type, a cluster missile with multiple warheads, and the other of the “Dhu al-Fiqar” type.
The Houthis stated in a released statement that the qualitative military operation targeted sensitive Israeli sites in the Jaffa area.
The Houthis said they will continue confronting Israel.
