Dubai: Al Jalila Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dubai Health Authority, announced the addition of 18 donors’ names to 19 departments and facilities at Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, in recognition of their generous contributions supporting the construction and development of Dubai’s first comprehensive cancer treatment hospital.
The announcement was made during the “Pioneers of Giving” ceremony recently held at the hospital construction site, attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Health Authority.
Also present were Dr. Raja Issa Al Qurq, Board Member of Dubai Health Authority and Chairperson of Al Jalila Foundation and the Steering Committee of Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health Authority, and Dr. Amer Al Zarouni, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation.
The list of donors whose names will be added to hospital departments and facilities includes Abdul Rahim Balghouz Al Zarouni, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Dubai Chambers, Dubai Endowment, Dubai Multi Commodities Centre Authority, Al Ansari Exchange, Sharaf Group, Al Siah Group, Abdul Wahid Al Rostamani Group, Chalhoub Group, Issa Saleh Al Qurq Charity Foundation, Abdullah Hassan Al Rostamani family, Abdul Salam Al Rafie family, Inovo, Siddiqi Holdings, Dr. Wael Al Mahmeed, and Issa Abdullah Abdulaziz Al Othman Endowment.
On this occasion, Dr. Amer Al Zarouni expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to all donors for their generous support of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital project, emphasizing that this support embodies the highest meanings of giving and social responsibility and is a fundamental pillar in building an advanced healthcare system that enhances quality of life.
He explained that Al Jalila Foundation has allocated 30 departments and facilities within the hospital where donors’ names will be added, with each donor’s name linked to the department or facility they helped fund, in recognition of their generous giving and strategic role in supporting this humanitarian project, which represents a qualitative addition to Dubai’s healthcare infrastructure and a cornerstone for a better future in cancer patient care.
The donors expressed pride and honor in having their names added to vital departments and facilities at Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital. They affirmed that giving is a social responsibility and a noble humanitarian message through which they seek to make a tangible impact on patients’ lives and contribute to advancing Dubai’s healthcare system.
Donor Abdul Rahim Balghouz Al Zarouni expressed pride in contributing to the hospital’s construction project, affirming that his participation stems from a firm belief that giving is a responsibility towards society. He added, “My message to every cancer patient is that you are not alone; this hospital was established for you to provide advanced care and new hope for recovery.”
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, confirmed that the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum left a great humanitarian legacy full of giving through his continuous support for the health sector, medical research, health innovation, and humanitarian work.
The authority’s participation in supporting the hospital project is part of preserving the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s legacy and within its corporate social responsibility strategy, expressing its commitment to its national role in enhancing quality of life, instilling noble human values, supporting the health sector, and strengthening social solidarity and cohesion, in line with the UAE leadership’s vision for sustainable development and building a cohesive and healthy society.
Mohammed Ali Rashid Lootah, Director General of Dubai Chambers, said that contributing to the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital project stems from Dubai Chambers’ role in enabling the business community to actively support vital sectors, foremost among them the health sector, enhancing Dubai’s competitiveness and leadership as a global medical care hub. He confirmed that this initiative embodies the partnership between the public and private sectors.
Mohammed Ali Al Ansari, Chairman of Al Ansari Exchange, affirmed that their contribution reflects their deep belief in the importance of community partnership in supporting purposeful initiatives, especially since the project carries a message of hope for cancer patients and their families and expresses values of human solidarity and social cohesion.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Sharaf, Chairman of Sharaf Group, and Sharafuddin Sharaf, Vice Chairman, confirmed that the group’s support for this medical landmark stems from their firm belief that human health is a fundamental pillar for building a more prosperous and stable future. It also represents a model of constructive partnership between the public and private sectors, contributing to developing advanced infrastructure that supports medical research and innovation and enhances Dubai’s position as a leading healthcare center.
Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital is located in Dubai Healthcare City – Phase Two, covering an area of 59,000 m². It includes 53 clinics, 21 clinical research spaces, 60 infusion rooms, 10 urgent care rooms, 5 radiotherapy rooms, alongside 116 beds and 19 tranquil gardens. The hospital is designed according to sustainability principles to provide an integrated system including early diagnosis, treatment, and supportive care.
