The Algerian national football team has qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals after defeating Somalia 3-0 in their match on Thursday evening, part of the ninth round of African qualifiers.

Algerian player Mohamed Amine Amoura scored two goals for the ‘Desert Warriors’ in the 7th and 57th minutes, with teammate Riyad Mahrez scoring in the 19th minute.

With this victory, Algeria raised its points tally to 22, topping their group and officially qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, scheduled to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

This marks Algeria’s fifth appearance in the FIFA World Cup finals, having previously qualified in 1982, 1986, 2010, and 2014.

Algeria becomes the fourth North African team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, following Tunisia, Morocco, and Egypt.
