Algeria is participating with 10 athletes in the World Athletics Championships for seniors, scheduled from September 13 to 21 in the Japanese capital, Tokyo.
The Algerian team competing in the world championship includes Souleiman Moula, Jamal Sedjati, and Mohamed Ali Gwand in the 800 meters, Haitham Chentouf in the 1500 meters race, Abderrazak Charekh and Mohamed Benyeto in the marathon, in addition to Yasser Mohamed Taher Trikfi in the triple jump, and Osama Khannousi in discus throw.
As for the women, Algerian athletics will be represented by Zahra Tatar in the hammer throw, and Nawal Yahi in the marathon race.
Algeria is among the most represented Arab countries in this championship with 10 athletes, 8 men and 2 women, followed by Qatar with 8 athletes, Bahrain with the same number, then Tunisia, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia with four athletes each, Djibouti with three athletes, and Oman represented by one athlete.
