In the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, during his official visit to the sister Arab Republic of Egypt, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt regarding cooperation in the field of antiquities and museums. The memorandum was signed on behalf of Bahrain by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and on behalf of Egypt by His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance.

On this occasion, Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, affirmed the strong historical and cultural ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the sister Arab Republic of Egypt. He emphasized Bahrain’s keenness to achieve the highest levels of cooperation and joint coordination in the fields of antiquities and museums between Bahraini and Egyptian cultural institutions. He pointed out that signing the Memorandum of Understanding confirms the efforts of the two brotherly countries to enhance cultural relations in the fields of antiquities and museums, reflecting the solid bonds and shared cultural vision between Bahrain and Egypt.

The memorandum aims to encourage joint scientific research, exchange museum exhibitions and temporary displays of archaeological artifacts between the two countries, in addition to organizing lectures, scientific seminars, and workshops related to antiquities and museums, enhancing the exchange of expertise in archaeological surveying and excavation, and implementing joint training programs.
