Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, received a report from the central unit of the “Hayat Karima” initiative regarding the furnishing status of government service complexes to make them fully operational and provide services to citizens. This follows the ministry’s follow-up on the directives of the political leadership and the Prime Minister’s orders concerning the operation of facilities and projects completed within the first phase of the President’s initiative to develop the Egyptian countryside, “Hayat Karima”.
In this context, the Minister announced the completion of the delivery and installation of standard furniture for all complexes established within the first phase of the presidential initiative, totaling 332 complexes distributed across 52 administrative centers in 20 governorates. The central unit’s report revealed that furniture has been fully supplied to all units and entities participating in the government complexes.
Dr. Manal Awad pointed out that the service complex is an advanced model of government facilities providing a package of procedural services needed by citizens. Each complex includes the headquarters of the local rural unit, the local council, a real estate registration office, a civil status office, a social solidarity services office, a supply office, a technological center for citizen services, and a post office. The complex covers an area of about 450 square meters and consists of a ground floor and two repeated floors.
The Minister explained that construction and handover operations for the government service complexes have been completed, followed by coordination with participating entities to identify their needs for standard furniture and technological equipment to enable full operation. The supply of all furniture components was completed at a total cost of about 660 million Egyptian pounds, manufactured entirely in national factories with mostly local inputs and high quality. Dr. Manal Awad directed the central unit officials to continuously follow up with governorates and local units to ensure procedures that preserve these assets, maintain them regularly, and handle them responsibly to protect public funds.
In parallel, the Ministry of Local Development, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, has started supplying and installing technological equipment for the 332 complexes with a total budget estimated at about 423 million Egyptian pounds, including computers and accessories. The technological furnishing of all complexes is expected to be completed before the end of 2025.
