The Chairman of the Arab Parliament, Mohamed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi, welcomed the outcomes of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, which witnessed the signing of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, describing it as a summit that restored hope to end the Gaza tragedy.
Al-Yamahi affirmed in a statement that this agreement represents a historic step towards ending the war, establishing peace, stopping the ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people for two years, and closing a painful chapter in human history.
The Chairman praised the pivotal role played by the Arab Republic of Egypt, led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in hosting and sponsoring the summit and leading the intensive political and diplomatic efforts that resulted in this agreement.
He confirmed that Egypt has been and remains at the forefront of countries supporting the Palestinian cause and defending the rights of the Palestinian people in regional and international forums.
He also appreciated the efforts made by the United States of America, led by President Donald Trump, to ensure the success of the agreement, supporting regional efforts aimed at the ceasefire, and facilitating the entry of humanitarian and relief aid into the Gaza Strip without restrictions or obstacles, in addition to the diligent efforts of Qatar, the Republic of Turkey, and the leaders participating in the summit.
Al-Yamahi stressed that the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit represents a milestone in the course of international efforts to end the war in Gaza, and a living example of Arab and international cooperation to achieve security and stability in the region, and a genuine beginning to end a prolonged humanitarian tragedy.
He called on the international community to build on this agreement, ensure the implementation of its provisions, support efforts to reconstruct the Gaza Strip, and enable the Palestinian National Authority to perform its role in managing the sector, paving the way for the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
