Mustafa Al-Barghouthi, Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative, said on Thursday that the primary credit for stopping the genocide war on the Gaza Strip goes to the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, calling for continued international isolation of Israel on one hand, and caution against the tricks of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Al-Barghouthi added in a statement that “the primary credit for stopping the criminal genocide war on Gaza, thwarting the ethnic cleansing conspiracy against its inhabitants, and liberating Palestinian prisoners, goes to the heroism, steadfastness, and bravery of the Palestinian people in Gaza and all of Palestine, despite the great sacrifices and severe suffering.”
He pointed out that “the Palestinian struggle, the international isolation of Israel, and the global solidarity revolution must continue until the Palestinian people’s goals of freedom, dignity, and self-determination are achieved.”
The Palestinian leader continued: “Caution must continue against the tricks of Netanyahu and his fascist government.”
He emphasized that “all efforts must focus on supporting the steadfastness of our people in Gaza, rebuilding all that was destroyed there, and confronting the colonial-settler assault in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.”
Early Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had reached an agreement on the first phase of his plan for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange in the Gaza Strip.
Trump said in a post on the American platform “Truth Social”: “I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have signed the first phase of our peace plan.”
He added: “This means that all hostages (prisoners in Gaza) will be released very soon, and that Israel will withdraw its forces to an agreed line as a first step towards a strong, lasting, and eternal peace, and all parties will be treated fairly.”
He continued that “it is a great day for the Arab and Islamic worlds, for Israel, for all surrounding countries, and for the United States, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey who worked with us to achieve this historic and unprecedented event.”
