His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church, described the day of the Peace Summit held in Sharm El-Sheikh as “a day that must be recorded in the history of modern Egypt with letters of light.”

In a television interview with Osama Kamal on the program “Masa’a DMC,” he said this global scene is like “a necklace from the whole world placed on the chest of Egypt and its political leadership.”

He considered this scene “the greatest award for Egypt,” adding: “If the president, by virtue of his position, presents the Nile Necklace and high medals, today’s summit is like a necklace from the whole world placed on the chest of Egypt and its political leadership.”

He viewed this honor as a culmination of efforts that lasted “two years of pain, suffering, fatigue, and fear” due to the casualties and injuries among men, women, and children in the Gaza Strip.

He emphasized that the summit is “a certificate of appreciation for Egyptian diplomacy in handling issues,” especially amid “the magnitude of pressures on Egypt, the president, the republic, and the Egyptian economy.”

He confirmed that today’s celebration is “a global testimony to the peace of heart and purpose, and Egypt’s wisdom in the precise handling of this very sensitive issue, which ended in joy for families and peoples.”

U.S. President Donald Trump left Egypt on Monday evening after participating in the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit.

During the summit ceremonies, U.S. President Donald Trump signed the “Gaza Agreement” alongside President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

President Trump affirmed in his speech that the agreement between Israel and Hamas will hold and added that it is very comprehensive.

The Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit was held with the participation of leaders from more than 20 countries under the title “Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit” to end the war in the Gaza Strip and enhance efforts to establish peace and stability in the Middle East region.
