Etihad Airways expects to carry more than 21 million passengers in 2025, with profits forecasted to increase compared to 2024.
CEO Antonoaldo Neves stated in an online press conference that Etihad will provide internet packages exceeding 100 Mbps on all fleet flights within the next 2 to 3 years.
He confirmed the airline is diversifying payment methods and expects to integrate cryptocurrencies into its digital payment systems in the short term, emphasizing investment in technology.
Regarding a potential stock market listing, Neves said the company is fully prepared but no date has been set; the timing depends on shareholders.
Neves announced that Etihad recorded its strongest and best half-year results in history during the first half of 2025, achieving record profits and passenger numbers driven by network expansion, operational efficiency improvements, and enhanced guest experience.
Etihad’s net profit after tax for the first six months of 2025 reached AED 1.1 billion, a 32% increase compared to the same period last year, fueled by strong demand for passenger services, increased productivity and efficiency, and improved revenues in both passenger and cargo sectors. Total revenues rose 16% year-on-year.
EBITDA increased 24% year-on-year to AED 2.7 billion, with profit margins improving to 20%.
The airline transported 10.2 million passengers in the first half of 2025, a 17% increase year-on-year, and achieved a milestone in early July 2025 by carrying over 20 million passengers in a 12-month period, double the number in 2022, reinforcing its position as the fastest-growing airline in the region.
Etihad’s operational fleet exceeded 100 aircraft, with the largest expansion in company history in July 2025, adding five new aircraft including the first Airbus A321LR, enabling service to nearly 90 destinations including year-round and seasonal routes.
Neves stated that Etihad has exceeded growth targets within its strategy and continues to focus on efficient execution with ambitious expansion plans based on efficiency, service, and innovation.
More than 1,700 new employees joined Etihad in the first half of 2025, including over 100 pilots and about 1,000 cabin crew members. The airline aims to be the preferred destination for Emirati talent and continues pilot, engineer, and technician training programs to attract top national talents.
27 New Destinations in 2025
Chairman Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa said in a press statement that with the announcement of 27 new destinations in 2025 alone, Etihad is proud to contribute to establishing Abu Dhabi as one of the most connected and accessible cities globally, enhancing the emirate’s role as a key gateway for millions of travelers worldwide.
He added that guest satisfaction rates have continued to improve across key touchpoints, including airport services, guest experience, and digital platforms, while unit costs remained stable alongside improved service quality, reflecting Etihad’s commitment to delivering added value and excellence to its guests and partners.
