The Iraqi Football Association signed a memorandum of understanding with Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital in Qatar, under which the Iraqi national team will receive comprehensive medical and scientific support for two years, benefiting from the latest medical and sports facilities provided by the leading Qatari hospital.

Under the agreement, Iraq joins Aspetar’s international partner network based in Doha, which includes major clubs and federations worldwide.

Khalid Ali Al-Malawi, Acting General Manager of Aspetar, said, “Signing this agreement reflects Aspetar’s leading role in sports medicine in the region and enhances our contribution to improving players’ performance through the best medical and scientific practices, which raises athletes’ readiness and serves the future of sports medicine regionally and internationally.”

Adnan Dirjal, President of the Iraqi Football Association, said, “The agreement with Aspetar aims to strengthen sports and medical cooperation and benefit from global expertise in medicine and sports sciences, contributing to improving the efficiency of technical and medical staff and achieving positive results for the Iraqi teams.”

Aspetar is one of the world’s leading hospitals specialized in sports medicine. In 2009, it was accredited by FIFA as a center of excellence in sports medicine, in addition to its accreditation by the International Olympic Committee as a specialized research center.

The hospital has previously established partnerships with major entities such as the French club Paris Saint-Germain and the Algerian Football Federation.
