Today marks two years since the United Arab Emirates launched the “Compassion for Gaza” campaign, which was the first of many ongoing UAE efforts and initiatives since October 2023 to aid the Palestinian brothers affected by the war in the Gaza Strip and to alleviate its humanitarian consequences.
Over the past two years, the UAE has led intensive diplomatic efforts regionally and internationally to end the war in Gaza, mobilizing the largest international support to stop the Israeli aggression on the Strip and to provide urgent humanitarian aid without obstacles.
Through “Knightly Horse Operation 3,” the UAE succeeded in securing continuous humanitarian and relief support to Gaza via land, sea, and air routes. The total humanitarian aid provided since the start of the operation until September 14 exceeded 90,000 tons, costing 1.8 billion USD.
The UAE carried out 81 air drop operations, delivering more than 4,076 tons of aid as part of the “Birds of Goodness” operation.
The UAE contributed to alleviating the suffering from hunger and thirst endured by the Palestinian brothers in Gaza through sustainable initiatives on the ground, such as sending several automated bakeries and providing flour to operate more than 50 bakeries.
The UAE supported the operation of several field kitchens in Gaza, in addition to more than 50 charitable soup kitchens. During last Ramadan, the UAE Red Crescent Authority implemented fasting-break programs distributing 13 million meals and providing for the needs of 44 soup kitchens throughout the holy month.
The largest UAE water line extends 7.5 kilometers, producing about two million gallons daily, serving more than one million people.
The UAE also implemented sewage network maintenance projects in several areas and sent a large number of tankers dedicated to transporting fresh water.
Since its inauguration in December 2023, the integrated UAE field hospital inside Gaza has continued to provide medical services to the people of the Strip through specialized and qualified staff in various medical fields and volunteers.
The UAE launched a unique humanitarian initiative through the hospital to fit prosthetic limbs for amputees. It also sent a fully equipped floating hospital off the coast of the Egyptian city of Arish to provide necessary medical support to the Palestinian brothers. The UAE continues to transfer critical medical cases to its territory for treatment and care under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to treat 1,000 wounded children and 1,000 cancer patients and provide care for them in the country’s hospitals. The total number of patients and companions transferred to the UAE reached about 2,785 people.
The aid includes medicines, medical equipment, and ambulances. A comprehensive polio vaccination campaign was carried out for more than 640,000 children in the Strip.
