Israeli sources announced that government and cabinet meetings will be held today in a fortified and secret location following the assassination of the Houthi government’s head in Yemen.

Channel 12 reported that the assassination occurred during a regular workshop held by the Houthi government to evaluate its activity and performance over the past year. Ministers were notified of this change shortly before the meetings convened.

On Thursday, Israel carried out an attack on Sanaa targeting senior leaders of the Houthi group, according to official Israeli broadcast authorities and military radio.

The Houthis have been launching attacks on Israel using rockets and drones, as well as targeting ships linked to or heading to Israel, claiming these attacks are in response to Israel’s ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli government is scheduled to hold its weekly Sunday meeting to discuss several issues including increasing the security budget, while the cabinet will later meet to discuss the situation in Gaza and respond to countries intending to recognize a Palestinian state, in addition to the situation in Lebanon and Syria.

Despite mediators proposing a partial ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal in Gaza, Israel has yet to respond. Prime Minister Netanyahu is pushing for the occupation of Gaza under the pretext of freeing hostages and defeating Hamas, amid widespread skepticism about the feasibility of this and Israeli military warnings about risks to hostages’ lives.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with US support, has been committing genocide in Gaza involving killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring international calls and International Court of Justice orders to stop.

The genocide has resulted in 63,371 Palestinian deaths, 159,835 injuries, mostly women and children, over 9,000 missing persons, hundreds of thousands displaced, and a famine that claimed 332 lives including 124 children.
