During his participation in a session titled “Sports Diplomacy.. New Challenges and Opportunities” at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Degtyaryov said: “We are preparing to participate fully in the 2028 Olympics. We will organize the second edition of the summer games (Spartakiada) for the best athletes, with about 9,000 Russian athletes expected to participate.”
He added: “This internal championship will be a key stage for selecting candidates to participate in the Los Angeles Olympics, starting from the 2026 edition.”
The Olympic Games are scheduled to be held in Los Angeles from July 14 to 30, 2028.
It is worth noting that Russian athletes are still subject to restrictions imposed by the International Olympic Committee, as they are banned from competing in team events but are allowed to participate in individual competitions under a “neutral” status according to international federation decisions.
The 10th Eastern Economic Forum is held in Vladivostok from September 3 to 6 under the slogan “Far East.. Cooperation for Peace and Prosperity.”
More than 4,500 people from over 70 countries participate, with a program that includes more than 100 sessions distributed across 7 main themes.
