Dr. Svetlana Chernova, an occupational medicine specialist in Russia, warned that sitting for long hours in an office work environment can lead to a range of chronic health problems, most notably back and neck pain, joint disorders, leg swelling, as well as poor circulation and weight gain.

Chernova explained that lack of movement during work weakens blood flow to the limbs, leading to numbness and muscle cramps, while sitting in an incorrect posture increases the risk of herniated discs.

She also pointed out that prolonged use of computers and display screens causes eye strain and persistent headaches due to improper lighting or incorrect distances between the eyes and the screen.

The doctor confirmed that psychological issues such as anxiety and lack of concentration have also become effects of modern office work, urging regular breaks, simple stretching exercises, and improving the office environment to maintain both physical and mental health.
