Experts warn that AI-powered toys may hinder children’s cognitive and emotional development.

Pediatricians and psychologists, according to a report published by Fox News, have warned that AI-enhanced toys such as “Grem,” “Grok,” and “Rudi” could radically alter children’s brain growth and their emotional and social development.

These toys are marketed as “screen-free playmates” and interact vocally with children in real time, giving them a human-like conversational quality. However, experts caution that they may replace the essential human interaction between children, their parents, and peers, which is fundamental for building empathy and critical thinking.

The report highlighted studies showing that children aged 3 to 6 sometimes trust robots more than humans, even when the robots provide incorrect answers, threatening their ability to discern and think independently. Doctors also pointed out privacy risks, as these toys may record conversations and store personal data without full parental awareness.

Although preliminary research indicates benefits such as expanding children’s vocabulary and stimulating curiosity, experts emphasize the need to regulate their use, review privacy policies, and encourage playtime in the presence of family to avoid potential emotional and security risks.
