Ghanaian club Asante Kotoko announced in a statement that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has refused to approve Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi to host the team’s match against Wydad Athletic Club, for the first leg of the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Ghanaian club clarified via its electronic accounts that the match will be held at the Accra Sports Stadium in the Ghanaian capital on October 19, starting at 3:00 PM local time.

The statement read: “Asante Kotoko’s management regrets to announce that CAF has refused to approve Baba Yara Stadium to host the match against Wydad Athletic Club, and the match will be moved to Accra Sports Stadium, with further details to be announced later.”

The Wydad delegation is scheduled to travel to Ghana on October 16, three days before the match, while the return leg will be hosted by Wydad at the Mohammed V Complex in Casablanca on October 25.

CAF had exempted Wydad from participating in the first preliminary round, from which Olympic Safi qualified after defeating Niger’s Niamey.
