Ahmed Bilal, former Al Ahly star, spoke about Al Ahly’s 2-1 victory over Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League, saying: I trusted Al Ahly players’ ability to win against Zamalek despite recent performance decline.

Al Ahly defeated Zamalek in the 131st Cairo Derby held yesterday at Cairo Stadium with a 2-1 score, overturning a 1-0 first-half deficit to win 2-1 in the second half.

Bilal said in statements to Soham Saleh on the Clasico program on ON TV: The problem with Zamalek players is their lack of self-confidence, unlike Al Ahly who show strong presence in decisive matches.

He added: Al Ahly players always live up to expectations, and the match against Zamalek is the league match for Al Ahly. Al Ahly won the league match and topping the table is just a matter of time. The team will return to the top of the league standings in upcoming matches.

He continued: The team missed many scoring opportunities despite having several technical problems, but the victory over Zamalek will help eliminate the mistakes made in the recent period.

Bilal concluded: Al Ahly could have scored more goals against Zamalek and missed many chances, but in the end, Al Ahly achieved what it wanted from the match.
