Hani Abou Rida, President of the Egyptian Football Association, expressed his confidence in the Egyptian national team to secure qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
Egypt is scheduled to play Ethiopia next Friday evening as part of the seventh round of the African qualifiers for the World Cup in the USA.
The official website of the Football Association quoted Abou Rida saying: “I trust the technical staff led by Hossam Hassan and the senior players.”
He added: “I also believe this generation includes a large group of outstanding players capable of leading the team to the World Cup.”
The president of the Football Association continued: “I trust that the players will make the Egyptian people happy and that football means a lot to Egyptians, especially the national team.”
Abou Rida also congratulated Mohamed Salah after he was crowned the best player in the English Premier League, describing Salah as a proud example for Egyptian players.
