Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the army targeted the military spokesman of the Al-Qassam Brigades, Abu Ubaida, noting that he is awaiting the results of the attack.

He added during a government meeting on Sunday: “The army attacked the spokesman of evil, Abu Ubaida, and we are waiting for the results. Hamas’ statement is delayed perhaps because there is no one to clarify the matter.”

The Israeli army spokesman announced on Saturday that a prominent figure in Hamas in Gaza was targeted.

Avichay Adraee wrote on the “X” platform that the army attacked a “central element” in Hamas in the Gaza City area in the northern sector.

Israeli media reported that the target of the Gaza strike was the spokesman of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, “Abu Ubaida,” with estimates indicating a 95% success rate in the assassination operation.

Channel 12 reported that “initial information about his location arrived last night, and at 5:30 PM this evening the strike was carried out.”

The channel quoted a senior Israeli official saying: “If Abu Ubaida was in the targeted building, there is no chance he survived this assassination attempt.”

Meanwhile, a Palestinian source told Al Arabiya and Al Hadath channels on Sunday morning that the spokesman of the Al-Qassam Brigades was killed.

The Palestinian source confirmed that Israel targeted an apartment where the Al-Qassam spokesman was present, and the Israeli bombing killed everyone inside the apartment.

The source indicated that members of Abu Ubaida’s family and Al-Qassam leadership confirmed his death after examining the body.
