Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented on the attempted assassination of Al-Qassam Brigades spokesperson Abu Ubaida, saying: “The army attacked Abu Ubaida and we are awaiting the results, and Hamas’ delayed statement may be because there is no one to clarify the matter.”
The Israeli army said the operation was carried out using precision munitions, based on intelligence information received by the Shin Bet and Aman, and was executed from a special operations room. Palestinian sources reported that Abu Ubaida’s wife and children were inside the house at the time of the strike, and Al-Qassam members quickly cordoned off the area to prevent access.
Although Hamas has not officially confirmed Abu Ubaida’s fate, Israeli security circles increasingly estimate that the assassination attempt succeeded this time, after two previous failed attempts since the start of the war.
