Tripoli, August 31, 2025 (WAL) – Starting tomorrow, Monday, September 1, new amendments approved by the Libyan Customs Authority regarding the estimated values of customs fees on cars, trucks, and motorcycles will be implemented across all customs departments nationwide.
The Customs Authority stated that this amendment was issued based on a circular from the Ministry of Finance, aiming to unify customs policies among various centers and achieve a more accurate tax balance.
The authority added that this step is part of efforts to reform the tax system and generate additional financial resources for the state, aligning with the government’s financial policy priorities, efforts to achieve tax justice, increase public revenues to support the budget, and enhance national economic stability.
The amendment includes a 10% increase in fees on four-wheel-drive vehicles and a 5% increase on front-wheel-drive cars, according to the base price of each category.
For trucks and heavy machinery trailers, the estimated customs fees will increase by 5% for models older than 2022, calculated from a price of 20,000 Libyan dinars, while the same percentage applies to models manufactured since 2023, starting from a price of 40,000 dinars.
The decision also covers motorcycles, with a 10% customs fee on models older than 2022, calculated from a price of 2,000 dinars, and the same rate applies to newer models since 2023, starting from a price of 6,000 dinars.
