China is hosting the largest summit in the history of the “Shanghai Cooperation Organization” on Sunday and Monday, with the participation of about 26 state leaders and 10 heads of international organizations, to discuss global challenges, foremost among them the trade war between the US on one side and China, India, and other countries on the other.

The summit features leaders from countries such as India, Russia, Turkey, and Iran, addressing regional security, digital transformation, and sustainable development, alongside discussions on the organization’s geographic expansion, enhancing its role as a multilateral platform for collective solutions to international and regional crises.

Since assuming the organization’s rotating presidency, China has promoted the slogan “Enhancing the Shanghai Spirit” and carried out more than 100 presidential activities covering politics, security, economy, trade, education, innovation, and green technology.

According to a report published by the American network CNN, citing World Bank data, the combined economies of the organization represent about a quarter of the global GDP, valued at 26 trillion dollars. Statistics for 2024 indicate that Chinese imports via e-commerce from member countries increased by 34% compared to the previous year.

As part of enhancing digital cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, China is participating in several vital projects, including laying a cross-border fiber optic cable between China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.
