The Ministry of Agriculture announced today the activation of the electronic livestock tagging link via the “Sanad” app and its official website, enabling livestock breeders to register and benefit from tagging services.

Minister of Agriculture Dr. Saeb Khreisat confirmed that the campaign will start in the field, initially through central committees in the governorates of Amman, Mafraq, and Karak, as they have the highest livestock density. Work will gradually continue in all governorates of the kingdom through local committees. He explained that all teams are equipped with electronic chips and devices for reading and activating them, noting that the work will continue until the entire national flock of live sheep is tagged.

Khreisat stated that the campaign aims to organize and develop the livestock sector and provide appropriate veterinary services. This step is part of the ministry’s plan to update the national livestock databases, contributing to supporting decisions related to food security and economic modernization vision, achieving more effective sector management, and enhancing Jordan’s ability to benefit from regional and international support programs directed at the agricultural and veterinary fields.

Additionally, it aims to accurately inventory livestock holdings, ensure support reaches the rightful holders, and enhance monitoring to limit any illegal practices. He pointed out that the campaign is implemented with the participation of oversight and security verification committees to ensure proper application of procedures according to legal frameworks.

The minister also noted that since mid-August, the ministry has been training and qualifying tagging teams in all governorates, in coordination with administrative governors, to ensure the campaign is implemented efficiently and smoothly in the field.
