The Ministers of Transport, Yaarub Badr, and Tourism, Mazen Al-Salehani, discussed mechanisms for joint work and coordination to rehabilitate the coastal road extending from Latakia to Jableh and reaching Banyas. This effort is part of initiatives to open new investment horizons on the Syrian coast.
During a meeting held today at the Ministry of Transport building in Damascus, the ministers emphasized the project’s importance as a vital axis supporting economic and tourism development. It plays a key role in improving coastal infrastructure and providing a vital artery linking coastal cities with a modern corniche, while preserving public spaces available to citizens.
The Minister of Tourism pointed out that the project represents a strategic step towards activating domestic and international tourism. He noted that rehabilitating the seaside corniche will contribute to attracting investments, creating job opportunities, and improving the quality of tourism services in the region.
Both ministers stressed the importance of joint cooperation between ministries and relevant institutions to ensure the project is implemented according to the highest standards, achieving sustainable benefits for both the local community and visitors.
The project reflects the Syrian government’s orientation towards activating domestic and international tourism and providing attractive infrastructure for investment, while ensuring a balance between public interest and economic development, in partnership between the Ministries of Transport and Tourism, coordinated with administrative and service authorities.
