The “Jacques Brel” hall in France will host the first Algerian Couscous Festival on September 27 and 28, 2025, organized by the Association of Radiance of the Rose, chaired by Mrs. Hakima Maksawi. This event highlights the importance of couscous as a symbol of Algerian identity and promotes it as an important traditional craft. The festival will feature a competition for the best Algerian couscous, various cooking demonstrations, workshops on preparation, traditional product booths including spices, pottery, and handicrafts, as well as musical performances and folk dances reflecting Algerian culture. Visitors will also enjoy tasting diverse Algerian dishes. Beyond cultural aspects, the festival aims to support the local economy by activating artisans, traders, and producers, while promoting Algerian cuisine and tourism in France. The event is planned to become an annual tradition.
The municipality of “Philippent” has provided the “Jacques Brel” hall, which accommodates up to 500 visitors daily, with parking and accessibility for people with disabilities. Hakima Maksawi emphasized that the festival is an opportunity to celebrate Algerian heritage and strengthen solidarity and exchange among different communities, inviting the public to enjoy a unique journey into Algerian flavors and colors.
