Security forces succeeded in arresting a highly dangerous criminal gang in possession of large quantities of narcotic substances and pills valued at approximately 350 million Egyptian pounds. Investigations by the Anti-Narcotics and Unlicensed Weapons Sector, in coordination with relevant ministry bodies, revealed that the gang, consisting of seven dangerous criminals, established and equipped two factories in Qalyubia Governorate to manufacture narcotic drugs. They used two ambulances belonging to a private company to disguise their activities and avoid detection. Following procedural measures, the gang was tracked, ambushed, and arrested with 1.6 million tramadol pills, 100 kilograms of tramadol powder, 3 tons of raw materials used in drug manufacturing, manufacturing equipment, quantities of hashish and methamphetamine (shabu), and six vehicles including the two ambulances used for drug distribution. The total value of the seized items is estimated at around 350 million Egyptian pounds.

This operation is part of the Ministry of Interior’s ongoing efforts to preemptively strike criminal elements involved in drug trafficking.
